Day 14 – Our discovery
Every traveler is by definition an explorer. This trip
was a real discovery. It took us to authentic Africa, where we heard the lion
roar, where we heard the people speak
their own language and where we breathed clean air.
Every traveler is by definition an explorer. We discovered the splendor of the
Victoria Falls, the wildlife of Chobe National Park in Botswana, the
tranquility and charm of lesser-known parks in South Africa, but we mainly
discovered experience.
We spent unique days in a tent camp in Zimbabwe. Just a canvas that separated
us from the wildlife. The roaring of lions, the screams of cheetahs and birds
singing in the background. Beautiful sunrises from my tent, a clear starry sky
where the stars were shining like diamonds, safaris in absolute serenity,
walking safari, elephant safari, eggs benedict in the bush !!! We learned to
enjoy the little things again. At home the sun also rises and sets. But here we
took the time to enjoy it. A moment of contemplation, of inner peace.
We awakened when the animal world woke up, we went to bed when it got dark
while the moon was watching over us. No watches, no pressure, as if we had all
the time in the world.
We took the time to enjoy.
Memories that we hold, now we return to our daily lives. The rush to go to
work, children to drop off and pick up from school and various activities. doing
the household, doing the washing, doing paperwork, bringing the garden in
order.
David Livingstone discovered the falls, mapped out the Zambezi river,
discovered big parts of Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana.
We followed in his footsteps and rediscovered much of his treasure.
But the biggest discovery we made was time and time to enjoy the little things.
Every traveler is by definition an explorer.
