Day 14 – A beautiful surprise
With Namibia I put the most beautiful jewel on my pearl necklace. A surprising
and diverse country, created by the gods. Nights under a sparkling starry sky.
The Namib Desert with its beautiful, colorful high dunes. A painting of
absolute perfection. The Kalahari desert, the home of the tracking and hunting
bushmen, her red sunset symbolizing my love for Africa. A beautiful animal kingdom
with protective elephants, lazy lions, the present but almost untracable
cheetah, the jumping springboks, the playing baboons, the tasty impala's, the
elegant giraffes, the special oryxes, the roaring warthogs, the swimming
crocodiles, the impressive hippos, the shy aardvark, the standing ground
squirrels, the crossing zebras, the beautiful kudu's. The just too enthusiastic
hunt for diving dolphins and rolling seals in Walvis Bay. The real, penetrating
scent of Africa in Erindi that stays with me forever. The magnificence of
Etosha with a seemingly infinite salty pan, protective bush and dry savannah.
The still-present German history at the seaside town of Swakopmund where the Atlantic
Ocean pounds on the pier.
Namibia deserves the title of crown jewel of Africa with justice and reason ...
